Healthy Living

Improving the health of your community is about more than the number of doctors you have. It’s about helping your citizens foster healthy lifestyles.

The Panhandle AHEC works with community leaders and health professionals to promote healthy lifestyles in communities. The quality of life in a community depends on more than having a physician or a hospital. Much of our health status is determined by our own behaviors and choices. We assist local organizations with health fairs and screenings by promoting those events as well as finding health professions student volunteers to help. In addition, we assist school districts with implementing the CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Children’s Health) curriculum to improve the fitness and nutrition behaviors of their elementary students. To learn more about how to have a healthy lifestyle and for resouces to benefit your community, check out our Healthy Living Resource Links.

Finally, we provide various health education presentations. The Healthy Living program presentations are designed to assist Health educators in supplementing their lesson plans. These presentations can also assist educators in fulfilling their TEKS requirements.
